Lifestyle of Patients with Post-polio Syndrome to Save Physical Fitness (review)

Abstract: Post-polio syndrome patients have limited muscle strength and endurance, and new fatigue and weakness appears at the same time, so it is necessary to save physical fitness in life. The patients are able to save their physical fitness by adjusting their lifestyle, and multidisciplinary support should be combined to alleviate symptoms and maintain function. Saving physical fitness requires the patients to achieve the following aspects, including setting up inventory of physical fitness using, consulting doctors, evaluating and improving sleep quality, weight-control, streamlining the living space, simplifying the daily work and housework, asking for help, planning rest time, attention to the weather changes, and identifying the sign of depression and isolation, etc. In family affairs such as cooking, cleaning, office, and outdoor activities, they should use the life-preserving lifestyle as much as possible.
