Abstract: The cerebral ischemia reperfusion injury is one of factors in aggravating brain injury, and the inflammatory response is one of the main reasons in the reperfusion injury after acute cerebral ischemia. Inflammation is modulated by many factors such as inflammatory mediators and inflammatory cells that promote brain damage from ischemia injury to reperfusion injury. This paper would review the role of inflammatory cells and mediators such as cytokines, chemotactic factors, adhesion molecules on cerebral tissue injury.

Key words: brain, ischemia reperfusion, leukocytes, astrocytes, microglia, cytokines, chemotactic factors, adhesion molecules
