Correlation between Dysarthria and Type of Cerebral Palsy, Motor Function, and Mental and Language Development Level for School-age Children with Cerebral Palsy

Abstract: Objective To analyze the correlation of dysarthria and the type of cerebral palsy, motor function, mental and language developmentlevel in school-age children with cerebral palsy. Methods 102 children with cerebral palsy in the school were assessed withFrenchay Activities Index, Gross Motor Function Classification System, Wechsler Intelligence Scale for Children, and Sign-Significate relations(S-S). Results and Conclusion All the children with cerebral palsy have dysarthria at different degrees in the 8 items of Frenchay ActivitiesIndex. The dysarthria degree is correlated with the type of cerebral palsy, the mental and the language development level, but not correlatedto the motor function.
