Sleep Habits among Children with Cerebral Palsy

Abstract: Objective To investigate the sleep habit of children with cerebral palsy. Methods The parents of 81 children 4~12 years old ere interviewed with Children's Sleep Habits Questionnaire (CSHQ). Results The prevalence rate of sleep disorder (the score of CSHQ≥ 9) was 51.9%, and increased with the age of the children (P=0.001). The total score, bedtime resistance, and sleep anxiety of CSHQ was igher in 4~5-year-old group than in 6~7-year-old group and 8~12-year-old group (P<0.05). Female (OR=3.222 , P=0.032), young (OR= .702, P=0.022), and accepted rehabilitation later (OR=1.029, P=0.048) children were in risk for poor sleeping. Conclusion Sleep disorders re severe among children with cerebral palsy. Early rehabilitation may improve their sleep.
