The clinical characteristics and prevention of asymptomatic bacteriuria in women patients with type 2 diabetes

Abstract: ObjectiveTo explore the clinical characteristics and prevention of asymptomatic bacteriuria in women patients with type 2 diabetes.MethodsThe data of 300 type 2 diabetes patients (75 with asymptomatic bacteriuria and 225 without asymptomatic bacteriuria), and 100 non diabetic controls were analyzed.ResultsThe incidence of asymptomatic bacteriuria in women patients with type 2 diabetes was 25%, and related risk factors included age, diabetes duration, level of serum glucose, hyperlipidia, diabetic neuropathy and macrovascular disease. The most frequent pathogenic agent was E. Coli.ConclusionAsymptomatic bacteriuria has a higher incidence rate in women patients with type 2 diabetes, and it maybe a part of chronic complication of diabetes.
