Abstract: ObjectiveTo investigate the characteristics and outcome of elderly coronary artery disease (CAD) patients who received combined interventional procedures (CIP). Methods69 consecutive patients who underwent CIP were divided into aged group (≥65 years) and adult group (18~65 years). Individualized procedure was made before CIP considering the features of each case. The following items were compared: success rate, complications, mortality, cost, procedure time, X-ray exposured time and contrast dosage used. ResultsThere were no significant differences between the 2 groups in success rate, complications and mortality. But the cost, procedure time, X-ray exposure time and the contrast dosage were significantly higher in the aged group. ConclusionThe elderly patients could get the same clinical results as those young and middle-aged patients from CIP, but the cost, procedure time, and X-ray exposure time and the contrast dosage were significantly higher, that more attention should be paid to the kidney damage caused by contrast.
