Status of Rehabilitation Demands and Services of Persons with Disability in Urban Area in Shanghai

Abstract: Objective To investigate the status of rehabilitation demands and services of persons with disability in urban area in Shanghai .MethodsZhijiang community of Zhabei district was selected as the sample by stratified-cluster random sampling method, and the rehabilitation demands and services of 1 074 persons with disability were surveyed.ResultsThe realization rate of rehabilitation demands of persons with disability in this community was 87.8%. 90% persons with disability were satisfied with the rehabilitation service. Only 33.3%~44.0% persons with disability had obtained assistive devices. The realization rate of operation therapy, hearing and speech training and vision training demand were 63.8%, 82.2% and 78.7%, respectively.ConclusionPolicy system of disability rehabilitation relief should be founded; assistive device service should be enhanced; more professional information and technology should support for operation therapy, hearing and speech training and vision training.
