Effect of Health-education on Compliance of Schizophrenic Patients for Taking Medicine

Abstract: Objective To explore the effect of health-educcation on compliance of schizophrenic patients for taking medicine.Methods 100 schizophrenic patients were randomly divided into the trial group and control group with 50 cases in each group.All patients of two groups were treated with clozapine,but the cases of the trial group were added with health-education.The insights and compliance of all patients for taking medicine were assessed with the Brief Psychiatric Rating Scale(BPRS) and Insight and Treatment Attitude Questionnaire(ITAQ) in 1st week of admission and at discharge.Results At admission,there were no significant differences in the scores of the BPRS and ITAQ(P>0.05) and the treatment compliance(P>0.05) between two groups,but there were significant difference in the scores at discharge( P<0.01) and the compliance for taking medicine 6 weeks after admission(P<0.01).Conclusion The health-education can improve the compliance of schizophrenic patients for taking medicine.
