Relationship between Post-stroke Pathological Laughing and Crying and Depression

Abstract: Objective To investigate the relationship between post-stroke pathological laughing and crying and depression.Methods Among 276 stroke patients in hospital,28 patients with pathological laughing and crying were chosen as PLC group,and other 28 patients matched with gender and age but without PLC were choosen as the control group.All patients were investigated with Hamilton Depression Scale(HAMD),PLC scale and clinical features.Results There was no significantly difference(P>0.05)in total and factor scores of HAMD between these two groups.Conclusion The pathological laughing and crying and depression seem to result from different pathogenesis.
