Quality of Life and Social Support of Patients with Malignant Tumors

Abstract: Objective To investigate the quality of life and social support of inpatients with malignant tumors.Methods 62 inpatients with malignant tumors were surveyed with Short Form of Health Survey(SF-36)and Social Support Rating Scale(SSRS).Results The means of scores of SF-36 were lower than 60 in patients with malignant tumors in every dimension except those of personal functions(PF)and body pains(BP).The scores of SSRS increased.The main resource of social support was family.But the inpatients wanted to obtain the surports from the doctors and nurses,especially the psychological support.Conclusion Patients with malignant tumors suffer the low quality of life.The proper medical information and psychological support should be offered to meet their need.
