Effects of Rehabilitation during or after Acupuncture on Edema and Pain of Shoulder-hand Syndrome after Stroke

Abstract: Objective To compare the effect of the rehabilitation training during or after acupuncture on edema and pain of shoulder-hand syndrome after stroke. Methods 60 patients with shoulder-hand syndrome were divided into two groups. The control group performed the routine rehabilitation training after the acupuncture, while the treatment group during the acupuncture. The pain and edema of the affected hands were observed. Results The pain and edema decreased significantly after treatment compared with that of control(P<0.01). Conclusion The rehabilitation training during acupuncture is more effective on shoulder-hand syndrome than the routine rehabilitation training after acupuncture.
