Family Function, Cohesion and Adaptability of Community Patients with Schizophrenia

Abstract: ObjectiveTo explore the features of family function, cohesion and adaptability of community patients with schizophrenia. Methods92 community patients with schizophrenia and 88 healthy volunteers were measured with the Family Environment Scale (FES-CV) and the Family Adaptability and Cohesion Scale (FACESⅡ-CV). ResultsCompared with the controls, the scores of cohesion, feeling expression, independence, achievement, entertainment, sense of orientation in FES-CV were different significantly in the patients (P<0.01). there were no significant difference in the scores of intelligent and ethical-religion factors (P>0.05). Each factor score of the FACESⅡ-CV was significantly lower in the patients than in the controls(P<0.01). ConclusionThere are defects in the family support system of patients with schizophrenia.
