Survey of the Status of Rehabilitation Therapists of The Disabled Persons' Federation and the Health System in Shandong, Henan and Beijing

Abstract: Objective To explore the status of rehabilitation therapists of the Disabled Persons' Federation (DPF) and the health systemin Shandong, Henan and Beijing. Methods A survey questionnaire was used to collect data from DPF and health system of these areas. ResultsMost rehabilitation therapists of DPF did not accept high education, The highest rate was 85.8% in Henan and the lowest was 52.6%in Beijing; more than 50.0% of them did not accept medical education in Henan and Shandong, although only 2.5% in Beijing; more than20.0 % of them did not be certificated, and it was 83.0% in Henan, there were significant differences (P<0.001). Most rehabilitation therapistsof health system were also in low education, the highest rate was 98.6% in Shandong, it was less than 50% in Henan and Beijing; mostof them were with primary or medium professional title; those without certificate was 67.7% in Henan, and was nearly 50.0% in Shandongand Beijing, there were significant differences (P<0.05). Conclusion It is urgent to increase the number of rehabilitation professionals andimprove their quality in Shandong, Henan and Beijing.
