Effect of Intravaginal Electronic Stimulation on Postpartum Stress Urinary Incontinence

Abstract: Objective To observe the short-term effects of intravaginal electrical stimulation on postpartum stress urinary incontinence (SUI). Methods 64 puerperants with stress urinary incontinence postnatal 42 d were divided into treatment group (n=28) and control group (n=36). They all participated postpartum health training, and the puerperants in the treatment group accepted intravaginal electronic stimulation for 12 weeks. They were assessed with questionaire, standardized pad test, strength of pelvic floor muscle and the cure rate 6 and 12 months postnatal. Results All the indexes improved in the treatment group compared with that in the control group (P<0.05). Conclusion Intravaginal electrical stimulation was effective on postpartum stress urinary incontinence.
