Development of the Scale for Assessing the Chinese Quadriplegia Activities of Daily Living Using Delphi Method

Abstract: Objective To develop the scale for assessing the Chinese Quadriplegia Activities of Daily Living. Methods The modified Delphi method was applied for the development of the scale. The consulting panel included rehabilitation physician, physical therapists and occupational therapists. The scale and the instruction were developed in the consultation which concluded three stages. Results The expert coordination coefficient (W) reached 0.795 and 10 items were determined at the first stage. The sub-items in 10 items and the scores of each item were determined at the second stage. There was excellent coordination among the scores which were assigned by the specialists (P<0.01), so each item were 10 scores. The instruction of the scale was determined at the third stage. Conclusion The scale for assessing the Chinese Quadriplegia Activities of Daily Living has been developed using the Delphi method, and it should be tested in the further research.
